HOW IT BEGAN
Our Story begins with a trip down memory lane! Who remembers going to your grandparents houses that open into lovely courtyards in the middle of the house letting in all the light and fresh air. Spacious. Inviting. A place for socialising. A place for relaxing. Courtyards have been a consistent feature of our houses built in the last couple of centuries in India. This is one such house! Not only does it let in all that freshness, it is located in the middle of a beautiful 12 acre farmland in the outskirts of a peaceful town. The house was inspired by their parents 150 year old manduva style house that they remember and cherish so dearly!
WHAT WE DID
With ceilings the height of 13 feet and walls spanning anywhere from 17 to 30 feet this house is a treat for the eyes. With all the green and serenity on the outside, we decided to go with a Neo classical style house with white walls filled with beautiful cornices giving character and depth to the long corridors. The white walls are highlighted with colour filled cabinetry that stand out and catch your eye.
Walking into the house you walk into a walkway with a huge mirror with an antique frame and console unit on the opposite wall. The walkway opens up into the courtyard that has a beautiful sit out in the middle and an exquisite fountain. Behind the sitout we have proposed a long console with Blue PU finish to add a little colour but also be easy on the eyes. The living room has a matt glass finished tv unit cabinetry with a nude sandstone panelling.
Starting with the Kitchen we have picked a dark jungle green exterior and framed them with gold SS finish pattis to match the Neo classical style of the house! The counter tops are all white Korean stone with a built in sink tastefully made and carefully installed by Quantra Quartz. The handles are gold finished to go with the theme of the kitchen. An informal dining space with a wooden bench and chairs are placed for a more relaxed and casual eating/ family time!
The formal dining area is designed to look a little grand for more formal gatherings and occasions. The crockery unit on one side of the wall is designed with dark grey veneer and gold aluminium frame units. The unit is designed with a gold ss base and legs. We have stuck to the same colour scheme for the vanity unit in the dining area and the butlers room for crockery items storage.
The Bedrooms are all designed to reflect the styles and preferences of the family member it belongs to! Some have a pop of colour, while some are all nude and white furniture and some have hand painted walls that add character and colour to your space!
The master bedroom wardrobe is split into two, a he closet and a she closet! Both the closets are designed using the same finishes to match each other. We used light oak Veneer and black aluminium frames with tinted glass. All wardrobes are equipped with all necessary accessories from pullouts to jewellery organisers giving them and modern usable abode. The Children’s walk-in closet is designed with a nude cream matt glass sheet with rose gold Aluminium frames and clear glass displaying their long beautiful Indian lehengas and designer bags!
Designing this project was an interesting challenge for us as we had to stick to a more classical theme while using different materials. We have used all finishes in their home, starting from PU and AcryGlass to Veneers and Laminates! Hope we inspired you a little to play around with finishes and have fun with designing your spaces!
